Re-Roofing the Shop
In preparation for the solar panels, we have re-roofed the shop/carport. First we took the old roof off. Here is Stuart working on that.
Next our contractor put new fascia, roof sheathing, and flashing. Plus they laid the first 4 rows of shingles to get us a good start on making things strait. Thank you Slavik.
Now we are putting the new shingles on. And we are almost done. We came up 6 shingles short of finishing and so we have to wait a few days for those to be delivered.

That's great! You're getting new solar panels for your roof. And more importantly, you decided to re-do the roof as well before you installed them. Solar roof panels can last for a long time, even longer than the lifetime for most roofs. So it's a good thing you decided to repair and replace the roof before you installed them.

Of course, nothing is more sensible than changing the old roof before installing the solar panels. Some don't do it for certain reasons, like cost-cutting, but it is much efficient this way. Efficient particularly in terms of longevity. Allyson@Affordable Roofing
ReplyDeleteDon’t you just hate it when you only lack a few and you have to buy a new stack? But I guess you can use them as replacements if the roof gets damaged by storms and other weather conditions. Hopefully the solar panels don’t stand out too much on your roof. Is it the same shade as your current shingles?
